Richard D. Zapata was a judicial candidate for the San Patricio County Court at Law in Texas.

Primary: He was defeated in the Democratic primary on March 4, 2014, receiving 20.5 percent of the vote. He competed against Melissa Franco de Gonzales.

Zapata ran for election to the 343rd District Court and was defeated by incumbent Janna K. Whatley.[4][5]

Education
Zapata received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&I University-Kingsville and a graduate degree from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. He was awarded a J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2002.[6]
Career
As of 2010, Zapata worked for the Texas Department of Human Services for the Aged and Disabled.[6]
