Funding
At the time of this election, the Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk did not publish school board candidate campaign finance reports online. Ballotpedia staffers requested this information, but the only free method of viewing the files was at their office.
The Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk targeted the end of 2018 to make school board candidate campaign finance reports available online for free. From that point forward, Ballotpedia began including campaign finance data for Los Angeles County school board candidates.[4][5][6]
The first campaign finance reporting deadline was September 24, 2015, and the second one was October 22, 2015. If candidates raised or spent more than $1,000 from a single source, including their own funds, between August 5, 2015, and November 2, 2015, they had to file a campaign finance report within 24 hours.[7]
If you have any information regarding the campaign finance disclosures in this race, please contact the school board elections team at editor@ballotpedia.org.

Campaign themes
2015
Davis highlighted the following vision on his campaign website:
“ | EMPOWER COMMUNITY
I firmly believe that we as a community should place the education of our youth and the associated challenges as our “Number One” priority. We must understand that our community is only as strong as our schools. EMPOWER STUDENTS As a Trustee, I understand the level of commitment in representing the AV High schools and serving as a positive role model. That is why I am actively involved in the schools engaging, educating, and empowering students to set high standards in meeting their potential in achieving success. EMPOWER PARENTS Recognizing that parents play the most important role in their student’s success, I will work to open our schools on evenings and weekends to provide parents an opportunity to become more involved in their child’s education. By turning empty classrooms into active learning centers will provide an added resource for both students and parents. EMPOWER STAFF AND TEACHERS Staff and Teachers are the backbone of our education system. That is why it is imperative teachers receive the respect of increased salaries and benefits, higher professional development and recognition for the professional work they perform for our students and community. Because family is important, I will work to open on site “day care centers” for all staff.[10] |
