Campaign themes

2016

Levine's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[3]

  1. State Finances -- I believe in zero based budgeting. The State needs to adjust from lurching from budget crisis to budget crisis every few months. The citizens of the State and the business community deserve as much. If we want to grow the economy, we need stability from the State in how we budget our money. We can make our State a desirable place for businesses to stay and relocate, as well as keeping it affordable for our individual citizens as well.
  2. Education -- The State needs to stop setting up unfunded mandates that local cities and towns can not afford to implement. We need to partner more directly with our communities to root out these mandates and work with our municipal leaders to maximize the effectiveness and efficiencies of every education dollar.
  3. Energy -- The State needs to work harder to partner with other States or on its own when possible to create more opportunities for energy competition. The State also needs to allow for the expansion of more natural gas pipelines, where appropriate, to reduce seasonal fluctuations as much as possible in price swings.
  4. Transportation -- The State needs effective policies for all modes of transportation to plan not just for the next 18 months, but 18 years and beyond.[4]
