Rosemary Collins was a judge of the Seventeenth Circuit Court in Illinois.[1] She joined the bench in 1989 and retired in December 2018.[2]

Education

Collins earned her J.D. from the John Marshall Law School.[3]

Career

Prior to joining the court in 1989, Collins was an assistant state's attorney in Winnebago County.[3]

Elections

2014

Collins was retained to the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court with 84.5 percent of the vote on November 4, 2014. [4] 

Evaluations

The Illinois State Bar Association and participating attorneys rated Rosemary Collins as Recommended for retention in a 2014 poll.[5]

Approach to the law

In an interview with Northwest Quarterly, Collins said,

What I like is that I have a chance to do justice on an individual scale, and on a bigger scale, change systems that affect thousands of people. We’re always trying to come up with ways to improve the system.[3][6]
