Ryan C. Irving, Jr. is a 21-year-old University of Houston Honors student. Before attending the University of Houston's Honor College, he was a Dean's list student at Lone Star College, Cy-Fair. He has governmental experience being a former intern for Mayor Sylvester Turner in 2017 and is also a current member of the Cy-Fair Chamber of Commerce and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. He graduated from Langham Creek High School in 2016 and was a very active student. He played basketball for Cy-Falls, and Langham Creek High Schools, was on the track team, and a grand debate student as well. Ryan is running for school board because he is CFISD! He has lived in Cy-Fair for 19 years mostly as a student. He feels teachers are true public servants. Ryan has had many dedicated teachers to serve him and believes it is now time to serve them and their children as a board member. Ryan doesn't want to change Cy-Fair but will build upon the progress of Cy-Fair.

  • Here to Serve Those That Have Once Served Me
Representation is my number one issue because Cy-Fair is one of the top 50 fastest growing areas in the United States. If elected as your next champion my main goal is to give everyone in our community a equal voice. I want it make sure that everyone new coming into our community no matter your ethnic background, where you come from, or who you love has an equal seat at the table.

School safety is my second issue because currently we have a safety crisis across our great nation when it comes to our schools. Cy-Fair recently passed a 1.76 billion dollar bond. 207.7 million of it is going towards safety and security. If elected your next trustee one of my main goals will be to make sure that we as a board spend that 207.7 million as best as possible to make sure we implement safety measures to not only protect our students, teachers, and administrators, but to make them feel safe in their learning or working environment.

Lastly, educator benefits is my third issue. For the past 8 years Cy-Fair has given teachers a 3% raise while their insurance goes up 7%. If elected as your next trustee I'd propose three things. One, to raise the boards insurance above the state minimum to give our teachers some relief. Second to get out of the current TRS contract and take legal action if necessary. Lastly, Texas is the second highest state in insurance premiums in the United States. It's time we hold our elected officials more accountable, and I have a plan to do just that.
