August 20, 2019: The Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement (BDS) is intended to oppose Israel and support the Palestinian cause. It played a major role in Israel’s recent decision to ban two U.S. congresswomen from entering the country. However, 71% of voters nationwide either have never heard of the BDS movement or don’t know enough about it to have an opinion.
A ScottRasmussen.com survey found that 21% of voters nationwide know that the BDS movement opposes Israel. Eight percent (8%) mistakenly believe that the movement is supportive of Israel.[1]
The survey also found that 61% of voters have a favorable opinion of Israel.
Seventy-three percent (73%) believe anti-Semitism is a serious problem in the United States today.
