June 11, 2024: Forty-six percent (46%) of RMG-described politically active elites think that the federal government pays too much attention to what voters want when it comes to establishing policies and regulations. A Napolitan Institute survey conducted by RMG Research found that just 32% of politically active elites think the government pays too little attention to voters, and 22% think the balance is about right.

Among all voters, sentiment is very different. Just 9% of all voters believe the government pays too much attention to what voters want, while 77% say they don’t pay enough attention, and 8% say the balance is about right.

Methodology

This survey of 1,500 elite voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on March 6-12. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc.

Elites were defined as having a postgraduate degree, having a household income of more than $150,000 annually, and living in a zip code with more than 10,000 people per square mile. Approximately 1% of the total U.S. population meets these criteria. The politically active elites are those elites who talk politics on a daily basis.
