May 31, 2023: Fifty-five percent (55%) of voters believe that political reporters are generally more interested in helping the candidate they want to win than they are about reporting the news accurately. A Scott Rasmussen national survey found that just 28% believe political reporters are more interested in accurate reporting.

The survey also found that voters have generally unfavorable views of media figures on the right and the left. By a margin of 40% to 37%, voters have unfavorable opinions of Tucker Carlson, and by a 38% to 25% margin, they have unfavorable opinions of Rachel Maddow.

Methodology

The survey of 1,000 Registered Voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on May 17-18, 2023. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Certain quotas were applied, and the -sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, internet usage, and political party to reasonably reflect the nation’s population of registered voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population.

The margin of sampling error for the full sample is +/- 3.1 percentage points.
