October 9, 2025: Eighty-nine years ago on October 9, 1936, the Hoover Dam began sending electricity. The dam, resting along the Colorado River, started being built under President Herbert Hoover. The dam would not be completed until 1935. The original, and main reason, for building the dam was to transport water out to western U.S. cities, which it still does to this day.[1]
