José H. Moreno is the superintendent of the Somerset Independent School District. Moreno was appointed superintendent in January 2023. Moreno's previous career experience includes serving as superintendent for the Robstown ISD and La Vernia ISD. He has also served as an assistant superintendent, senior executive director, principal, and teacher.[1]

Past superintendent

  • Saul Hinojosa was the superintendent of the Somerset Independent School District from 2007 until 2023.[2] Hinojosa's previous career experience includes working as a junior high principal in the district.[3]

Members of the Somerset Independent School District school board are elected to four-year terms. Three or four seats are up for election on a staggered basis in even-numbered years.

Three seats on the Somerset Independent School District school board in Texas were scheduled to be up for general election on November 5, 2024, but only one seat was on the ballot. The other two seats were uncontested and canceled. The filing deadline for this election was August 19, 2024.
