This measure sought to renew the current police property tax which is set at a rate of $.20 per $100 of assessed property tax for a further five years in order to continue to pay for operational costs of the police department in the village.[2]

The question on the ballot:
A renewal of a tax for the benefit of the Village of South Solon for the purpose of POLICE DEPARTMENT OPERATIONS at a rate not exceeding two (2) mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to twenty cents ($0.20) for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for five (5) years, commencing in 2012, first due in calendar year 2013.[3] |
