Rolando Ramirez is the superintendent of the Southside Independent School District. Ramirez was appointed superintendent in March 2020. Ramirez's previous career experience includes working as the superintendent at Valley View Independent School District in Hidalgo County, Texas.[1]

Members of the board are elected biennially in May to overlapping four-year terms.
Three seats on the board were scheduled to be up for general election on May 3, 2025, but the election was canceled because every seat was unopposed. The filing deadline for this election was February 14, 2025.[3]
