I am a graduate of public schools with a Master’s Degree in Education from The Ohio State University where my area of focus was Integrated Teaching and Learning. Professionally, I have worked at McGraw-Hill as a science editor and custom publishing manager. In this role, I gained a deep understanding of state standards and textbook adoption practices. I have also worked as a Program Coordinator at COSI for a program funded by the National Science Foundation, designed to teach elementary and middle school science teachers how to facilitate inquiry-based lesson plans.

I currently work in the software industry, where I have honed my skills in facilitation, change management, project management, instructional design, budgeting, and yearly project and product planning. I believe the combination of all these experiences makes me a highly qualified candidate for school board, one that will serve our school community thoughtfully, with strong leadership skills, and an open mind.

I moved to Worthington in 2017 with my two daughters who currently attend Worthington Estates Elementary School. I am an avid endurance runner and pace coach for a local marathon and half marathon training group.

  • I will ensure that we are listening to all voices throughout the district. Worthington Schools is comprised of neighborhoods from across Central Ohio and all of those voices should be prioritized and considered when make decisions as a board.
  • I will prioritize mental health initiatives for our students, teachers, staff, and administrators. We are facing a mental health crisis in this country at all age levels and I will work with experts the support existing initiatives and expand our offerings.
  • I will work closely with elected officials and key stakeholders throughout the district to identify additional funding for our schools including grants, donations, and development that brings additional revenue to our schools.
I have always been interested in education policy, which is another reason I'm committed to serving as a school board member. Strong public schools are an integral part of a strong community.
Throughout high school I worked at the Ohio Historical Society in their 1860's era village.
School Board members, like any elected official, are there to represent the members of their district, not their personal agendas. As such, school board members should act as a liaison between the schools and the community, helping to shape policy that reflects and benefits the district at large. In this role, members define and adhere to mission and vision statements and articulate both short and long-term goals that align with those statements. We should represent all students and families, and make sure traditionally under-represented voices are considered in all decisions.

School Board members are also responsible for ensuring we make responsible fiscal decisions, while anticipating future growth and setting the district and students set up for success into the future.
All members of the school community, whether they have students or not, are my constituents. A strong school system is integral to the success of a community, so all citizens have a vested interest in the success of the schools.
As a board member, I will proactively speak with families throughout the district, especially those who are not always represented in settings like PTA or school board meetings to ensure that when we make decisions, they have a seat at the table.

We have very experienced teachers and staff in our district that understand the student population, including our Director of Diversity Equity and Inclusion, that consider these issues as part of their daily jobs. As part of my campaign, I have begun to establish relationships with these key stakeholders and will continue to build these relationships and rely on their expertise as a board member.

Additionally, it is critical that board members look at the health of the district from top to bottom. We should always continue to review our data. What programs are working and for whom? What are we missing? What are our gaps and where should we expand? We need to look at these across all demographics, not just as a monolithic data set.

We also need to connect with community and school groups that advocate for the needs of our students and families. And always, we need to ask questions and then more questions, listening and applying the information we receive.
I will build a stronger relationship between the schools and the neighborhoods they serve. I will advocate for a Community Engagement Committee that is responsible for liaising with community representatives such as council members and other leaders. By building strong relationships among School Board members, other elected officials, and key members of the neighborhoods we serve. By doing this, we can ensure that we are all working in concert to strengthen, represent, and consider all facets of a school community.
I will build a stronger relationship between the schools and the neighborhoods they serve. I will advocate for a Community Engagement Committee that is responsible for liaising with community representatives such as council members and other leaders. This committee will allow Worthington Schools to anticipate growth and development and to proactively plan alongside others throughout the district to account for that growth. Additionally, this would better align us with needs within communities for things like workforce development and other emerging programmatic needs.
I will work with experts in the field to evaluate the programs we currently have in place and identify best practices that we are not currently following. I will also work with the Worthington Education Association (our teachers union) to do the same for teachers, staff, and administrators. We are facing a mental health crisis in this country, and we cannot afford to fully fund these intiatives.
