Steve Speakman is a Republican and judge on the partisan Lee County District Court in Alabama. Speakman won re-election in the general election on November 8, 2016.

Biography

Speakman received his undergraduate degree from Auburn University in 1995 and a diploma in legal studies from the University of Oxford in 1996. He earned his J.D. from Washington & Lee University in 1999. Prior to joining the court, Speakman was a partner with the firm of Speakman & Speakman.[1]

Speakman earned 55.59 percent of the Republican primary vote, defeating Wes McCollum. He then won the general election with 61.18 percent of the vote, defeating James E. Cox (D).[3] .[4]
