Five of the seven seats on the Elko County School District school board were up for general election in 2016. Four of the seats (Districts 3, 4, 5, and 7), including a seat with a two-year term, were decided in the primary election that was held on June 14, 2016. The fifth seat (District 2) was on the ballot in the general election on November 8, 2016.[1]
Candidates Michael Ayala and Tammie Cracraft-Dickenson ran for the District 2 seat. The District 2 election appeared only on the general election ballot. Kieth Fish ran unopposed for the District 3 seat. Incumbent Teresa Dastrup also ran unopposed for re-election to the District 4 seat. James Cooney ran unopposed for the District 5 seat, and Ira Wines ran unopposed for the District 7 seat with a two-year term.
