Telford E. Forgety, Jr. was the chancellor for the Fourth and Fifth District Chancery Courts of Tennessee. He served Blount, Cocke, Grainger, Jefferson, and Sevier counties in Tennessee. He was appointed to this position in 1997 to replace the late Judge Chester S. Rainwater, Jr., and was elected to the court in 2000.[1] Forgety was re-elected in 2006 and 2014.[2][3][4][5] He retired on August 31, 2022.[6]

Education

Forgety received his undergraduate degree from Carson-Newman College in 1972 and his J.D. from Memphis Sate University in 1975.[1]

Career

Forgety began his career in 1975 as a law clerk for Judge James Parrott of the Tennessee Court of Appeals. He left that position the following year and worked in private practice with the law firm of Rainwater, Forgety and Jones in Dandridge, Tennessee. In 1997, he was appointed to the position of chancellor.[1]
