The NASDTEC Interstate Contract is an interstate compact among all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Guam. The compact allows educators who complete an approved program or hold a certificate or license in one member state to earn a similar certificate or license in another state. States may impose requirements that must be met in order to obtain the new certification, but will allow teachers from other states to teach in the new state. Not all states in the compact necessarily accept certification from other states, however. For instance, if Colorado accepts a license from Kansas, Kansas is not obligated to accept licenses from Colorado.[1]
Text of the compact
The legislature of each member state passes the laws with certain modifications, but the core of the legislation remains the same.
