Thomas M. Higbee

Thomas M. Higbee is the presiding judge for the Utah Fifth Judicial District in Washington County for the St. George Juvenile Court.[1] Higbee was appointed to this position in January 2001 by Gov. Michael O. Leavitt.[2]
Higbee won a retention election on November 8, 2016.[3]
Biography
Higbee received his J.D. from the University of Utah School of Law in 1980.[2] After earning his degree, Higbee worked in private practice for 20 years. He was senior partner of the firm of Higbee & Jensen at the time of his appointment to the Juvenile Court.[2]

Utah held retention elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. The filing deadline for sitting judges seeking retention was April 15, 2016. Thomas M. Higbee was retained in the Utah 5th District Juvenile Court (Higbee Seat) election with 84.26 percent of the vote. [3]

Higbee was one of seven applicants for an open seat on the Utah Court of Appeals recommended to the Governor for appointment.[4][5]
