Biography
Tom Handy was born in Yeadon, Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Army from 1996 to 2016. He graduated from Ridley High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from Norwich University in 1996 and a graduate degree from Central Michigan University in 2004. His career experience includes working as an entrepreneur. Handy has been affiliated with Fort Bliss ROCKS, EP BUILD, and the Veteran Business Association.[1]

|While in the Army, he graduated from the basic and advanced military intelligence school, counterintelligence school, and a graduate of the Army’s Command and General Staff College. While stationed in Hawaii Tom gave up his weekends to earn his Masters in Public Administration from Central Michigan University. Tom recently completed Managing Happiness from Harvard Business School.
In 2013, Tom was hand-picked to come to Fort Bliss as the Executive Officer for Headquarters, 1st Armor Division. With deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq twice, Jordan, and three assignments to South Korea, Tom has served as the senior intelligence officer, providing analysis against threats to the unit. While in Iraq as a human intelligence company commander, he led 16 teams that helped transform military operations while managing over $7 million in equipment. Tom was awarded: 2 Meritorious Service Medals 8 Army Commendations Medals Army Achievement Medal Purple Heart Combat Action Badge Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 2 campaign stars
Upon leaving the military, Tom quickly joined the Hispanic and El Paso Chambers of Commerce and worked with local business owners.- Lower property taxes - the city needs to find other ways to generate income instead of tax residents.
- Make sure the roads are fixed and not half way completed. Empower supervisors to ensure workers do their job.
- Keep people accountable who work for the city. They are elected or picked to serve the people and not their own pockets.
