Valarie Turner was a judge of the Cook County 2nd Subcircuit in Illinois. First elected to the bench in 2002, Turner was retained to new six-year terms in 2008 and 2014. Turner, however, was forcibly removed from the bench on August 17, 2016, after it was alleged that she allowed Rhonda Crawford to hear cases in the court. Crawford ran for election to the court in 2016.[1][2][3][4]

Turner was retained to the Cook County 2nd Subcircuit with 78.4 percent of the vote on November 4, 2014. [1] 

Evaluations

The Illinois State Bar Association rated Valarie Turner as Recommended for retention in 2014.[5]

Education

Turner earned a B.A. from Northwestern University and a J.D. from the University of Chicago. She was admitted to the bar in 1991.[2][6]

Career

Prior to her judicial election in 2002, Turner spent six years as an associate with a large law firm, two years as an assistant attorney for the United States, and two years as a business consultant and researcher.[2]
