The Washington Supreme Ruler of the Universe Initiative, also known as I-1047, was intended by its sponsors to qualify for the November 2009 ballot in Washington, but did not ultimately qualify. Its sponsors would have had to collect a minimum of 241,153 signatures of registered voters by 5:00 p.m. on July 3, 2009 to qualify.
I-1040, an Initiative to the People, was sponsored by Kimberlie Struiksma.
The official ballot title for I-1047 was, "Initiative Measure No. 1047 concerns a supreme ruler of the universe. This measure would prohibit state use of public money or lands for anything that denies or attempts to refute the existence of a supreme ruler of the universe, including textbooks, instruction or research."

According to the description prepared by the Washington Secretary of State:
- "This measure would require state government not to use public funds or property for anything that denies or attempts to refute the existence of a supreme ruler of the universe, including but not limited to appropriations for displays, textbooks, scientific endeavors, instruction, and research projects."
