Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment did not appear on the November 2, 2010 statewide ballot in Arkansas. On January 4, 2010 the Arkansas Attorney General rejected the proposed constitutional amendment that called for legalizing medical marijuana. According to Attorney General Dustin McDaniel's opinion, the proposed measure did not acknowledge that if measure had been sent to the ballot and approved by voters, marijuana would still remain illegal according to federal law.[1][2]
Path to the ballot
Before proponents could circulate petitions to place the measure on the November 2, 2010 ballot, the attorney general must have certified the ballot title. If it had been certified, proponents were required to submit a minimum of 77,468 valid signatures by July 2, 2010.
