Henry S. Johnson was a circuit court judge for the Twenty-Sixth Circuit, serving Harlan County of Kentucky.[1] He was appointed to the court by Governor Steve Beshear on July 12, 2013, to fill the vacancy created by the removal of Russell D. Alred from the bench.[2]

Johnson ran for re-election to the Twenty-Sixth Circuit in 2014 but was defeated by Kent Hendrickson. His term expired on January 4, 2015. [3]

Johnson ran for re-election to the Twenty-Sixth Circuit.
Primary: He was successful in the primary on May 20, 2014, receiving 37.0 percent of the vote. He competed against Kent Hendrickson and Karen S. Davenport.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 49.0 percent of the vote. He competed against Kent Hendrickson. [4][5] 

Education

Johnson received his undergraduate degree from Macalester College and his J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law.[6]

Career

Before his appointment to the court in 2013, Johnson worked as an attorney in private practice. He also previously served as an attorney for the commonwealth in Harlan for twenty years.[2]
