Thomas A. Thanas was a judge of the Twelfth Circuit Court in Illinois.[1] He was appointed to the position in December 2014 by the Illinois Supreme Court to fill the vacancy left by Richard Siegel. His term expired in December 2015. Thanas was previously appointed judge in 2001. He served in that position for one year before losing the seat in an election.[2]
Education
Thanas earned his B.A. in political science and government from the University of Notre Dame in 1977. He received his J.D. from Valparaiso University in 1980.[3]
Career
Prior to his appointment to the bench, Thanas was employed as the city manager for Joliet, Illinois. Previously he also worked as the city attorney for Joliet and Naperville, Illinois, and as regional counsel for Harrah's Casino.[2]
