Nevada: Michael Douglas, a justice of the Nevada Supreme Court since 2004, became the Chief Justice of the court at the beginning of 2011. The 62-year-old judge will serve as the administrator of the court and is likely to face difficult budgetary decisions in the coming year. He stated, "With the budget cuts the courts have already endured, it is increasingly difficult to fulfill our constitutional role...Certainly we acknowledge the budgetary difficulties in Nevada and will do our part, as we always have.” Douglas succeeds former Chief Justice Ron Parraguirre, who held led the court in 2010.[1]
