Valerie P. Cooke was a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the District of Nevada. She was appointed to this position in 1999 and served until 2018.

Education

Judge Cooke received her B.A. degree in English from the University of Nevada, Reno and her J.D. degree from the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College.

Career

Judge Cooke was a partner in the law firm McDonald, Carano, Wilson, McCune, Bergin, Frankovich & Hicks LLP until she was appointed to the U.S. District Court in 1999. She also served as the vice-chair of the Nevada Tax Commission from 1995 to 1999 and a member of the Nevada Judicial Discipline Commission from 1997 to 1999.
