Ronald P. Pierce was the District B representative on the Colonial School District Board of Education in Delaware. First elected to a one-year unexpired term in May 2009, Pierce won his first full term on the board in May 2010. He was unsuccessful in his bid for re-election on May 12, 2015.

The 2015 election was the first contested race Pierce had faced for the board: he was first elected and re-elected without opposition in canceled elections.

Two seats on the Colonial Board of Education were up for general election on May 12, 2015. District B incumbent Ronald Pierce lost his re-election against challenger Margaret Kennedy.[1]

The District D seat has been vacant since the 2014 election when officeholder Melodie A. Spotts ran for the District G seat. No candidates filed to run in the election to fill the open seat. The seat was filled via a board appointment in August 2015, until the next general election in 2016. Initial reports stated that an appointment would be made by June 2015.[1][2][3]

Colonial School District is located in New Castle County in northern Delaware. The county seat is Wilmington. The county was home to an estimated 549,684 residents in 2013, according to the United States Census Bureau.[5] In the 2011-2012 school year, Colonial School District was the fourth-largest school district in Delaware, serving 9,711 students.[6]
