2013: Year-round school

In November 2013, two North Kansas City elementary schools opted to implement year-round school years with the goal of greater achievement gains for students. Instead of getting a nine-week summer break, students would have a break of four weeks in June and July. The implementation process began in 2015. At the time of implementation, North Kansas City Schools was the only district in Missouri to have year-round schooling.[13][14]
