Manuel Fernandez (Louisiana)
Manuel A. "Manny" Fernandez was a judge of the 34th Judicial District, Division B in Louisiana. He was first elected to this position on May 5, 2001 to replace Judge David Gorbaty.[1][2] He retired on June 1, 2013—exactly 12 years after he was initially sworn in.[3] He died on February 8, 2014.[4]
Education
Fernandez received an undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1964, going on to receive his J.D. from Loyola University Law School - New Orleans in 1967.[2]
Career
Prior to his judicial election in 2001, Fernandez worked for 34 years as an attorney. He was also a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives (District 104) from 1976 to 1988. After that, he spent two years as an assistant chief of staff for the governor's office.[2]
