I have been a proud resident of Clayton County for the past 20 years. I respect the integrity of our elected officials and the work they do for the constituents of Clayton County.

I have supported public education in my role as a substitute teacher and as a volunteer at Clayton County Public Schools, Attended the National Education Association (NEA) conferences for the past several years to gain an understanding of public education issues on the local, state, and national levels, Earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Criminal Justice. For 35 years I have worked in city, local, and state government with the last 20 years in the Judicial System.

Currently I serve on the: Saint Leo University Advisory Committee for Human Services; Board of Directors for DeKalb County Benevolent Funds Committee; Human Services Department Grant Review Committee, Hostess Board at my church, Light of Joy.

My work history, academic achievements and affiliations have honed my skills, abilities and knowledge of Public Service which I believe will be an asset in supporting the mission and goals of the Clayton County School Board.
  • Work to ensure that all students receive a quality education that will prepare them to be productive global citizens.
  • Strive to provide best practices that reduce achievement gaps and establish a level of excellence in all Clayton County Schools.
  • Support efforts that encourage strong school, teacher, parent, and community partnerships.
I am passionate about Education, Healthcare, Law Enforcement, Civil Rights, and Equity.
The School Board is responsible for hiring the Superintendent, setting the vision and goals for the district, adoption policies and overseeing the annual budget, adopting curriculum and approving the school calendar, ensuring school safety and modernizing facilities.
Clayton County District-7
I will connect with them where they are via an open minded platform that will allow us to respective one another's differences.
I am committed to quality education for all students. I will work with parents, stakeholders and communities to build relationships that will result in a better school experience for everyone. Quality education is more than academics. A quality school must provide services to meet students mental, nutritional, and physical health needs. This requires nurses, social workers and counselors to be onsite daily for our students.
We are stronger together, student and parent input is important for success. I plan to be visible at school events which will allow parents and students to ask questions in a less formal environment, be present at neighborhood events to ensure that I am connecting with the families that I serve. My goal is to meet with students and parents to listen to their needs and to have student ambassadors at all schools K-12. This would allow me to hear firsthand what students would like to see changed in their schools. Keeping an open line of communication via email, text and telephone for parents and students to easily contact me with questions and concerns.

It is important for students to see staff that look like them, therefore, I believe the district should recruit at Historically Black Colleges and Universities as well as other diverse higher learning environments.
The most pressing issue facing public education is the inequitable distribution of public school funds that hinder many children from receiving the quality education that they deserve. There needs to be education reform at the state levels to ensure policy changes to prevent funding inequities. My goal is to create partnerships with stakeholders to achieve these goals.
Teachers must be creative in teaching their lesson that will keep students engaged by having a variety of hands on multilevel activities. These lesson must reach the visual, audible and cognitive learners. There are many was to measure success but if children are excelling the goals have been met. Empower teachers with the ability to be innovative without the restriction of out dated curriculum.
To ensure our students are able to be global citizens our learning environment must include but not limited to Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math (STEAM), coding, excellent communication and problem solving skills.
