January 10, 2010
Rutland, Vermont: Christina Reiss, the new federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of Vermont, was formally sworn in on January 7, 2010. The ceremony took place at the federal courthouse in Rutland where a packed courtroom witnessed Vermont's first female federal judge's swearing in.
Reiss takes over for Garvan Murtha who took senior status. She was nominated to the court by President Obama.
The Chief Judge of the court, William Sessions, administered the oath to Reiss and Reiss donned her new robe which is custom of a judicial swearing in ceremony.[1]
