John Tackett earned a B.A. from the University of Chicago in 1998 and a J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2003. His career experience includes working as an attorney with Ward Hocker & Thornton PLC, with Phillips, Parker, Oberson and Arnett PLC, and with his own practice, John L Tackett Attorney at Law PLLC.[1][2]

The judges of the Kentucky District Courts are elected in nonpartisan elections. They serve four-year terms and must run for re-election if they wish to serve again.[3][4]

Qualifications
To serve on this court, a judge must be:[3]

  • a U.S. citizen;
  • a resident of the represented district for at least two years; and
  • licensed to practice law for at least two years.
