A born fighter and leader, he has a plan and a vision for District 80 and is ready to go to work to bring that vision into focus in 2020. Dr. Jermaine Johnson is A Worthy Candidate. Committed to the Community. Dedicated to Progress.
  • Community Development is needed to keep our population safe and will help keep our talent in the community
  • It is time for new progressive ideas from a leader who will represent the District with the upmost respect.
  • We must take care of our most vulnerable population of youth and seniors and invest in additional programs as well as tax breaks for our elders.
I want to bring the Universal Basic Income Program championed by Andrew Yang to the state of South Carolina. We will begin with a pilot program and scale it across the state.

Reproductive rights for women

Establishing a minimum wage in South Carolina

Climate Change

Medicaid Expansion
The late Rev. Dr. Joseph Neal. He is the person who believed in me and got me started on my rode in politics.
I believe the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office is for the person to listen to each and every constituent across the district regardless of political affiliation. After hearing the information, research the problem and solution and begin to hear others opinions on the concern. If this is deemed an issue by a majority of the constituents, the official should fight for what the people are asking for. The official's responsibility is to fight for the people and be their voice at the statehouse.
The very first memory I have in my life is when my brother ran away from home and was murdered by someone that was supposed to be his friend.
As a gifted athlete, Jermaine used his skills on the basketball court to earn his way to a full scholarship to the College of Charleston. While in college, he became a four-year basketball Letterman and served as captain of the team in his final year. After graduating with a bachelors degree in Communications, he continued his athletic career and was drafted into the NBA's D-League and went on to play for various teams abroad in Canada, Brazil, Mexico and Portugal. But after years of traveling the world and playing the sport he loved, Jermaine decided that it was time to return home and pursue his other passion of serving others.
In my life since adulthood, I have struggled with competing against myself and trying to be a perfectionist. When I do this I continue to try to take on extra work so that I can address everyone's concerns. I want to ease everyone's pain and I have to accept that I cannot. I don't want to let anyone down.
No, I do not because we will continue to get the same ideas and solutions for ever-evolving problems.
One where compromising is the main objective. There should not be an all-Republican gubernatorial ticket or vice versa. We need to put people first and that is by hearing all sides and considering all ideas of the legislature.
I do believe it is beneficial to build relationships with other legislators which is why I have already begun doing so prior to being elected. I believe this because you cannot pass anything for your specific district without the support of others therefore it is only wise to have positive working relationships with other legislators.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in South Carolina

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
