Kristie earned a bachelor’s degree in commercial economics and agricultural business from South Dakota State University and a master’s degree in business administration from USD.- I have a proven track record for looking out for South Dakota families, utility consumers, and landowners every day, and for being your voice at the public utilities commission. Experience matters at the PUC. A South Dakota Public Utilities Commissioner requires technical expertise in electricity, telecommunications, natural gas, pipeline safety, grain warehouse, grain buyers, and siting dockets for infrastructure.
- I will continue to do my job with the utmost respect for the law and facts to ensure South Dakotans are being treated fairly. Serving in a quasi-judicial role, a commissioner needs to be able to make all decisions based on the evidence presented. Experience is needed to be able to advocate for South Dakota families and understand the complex issues.
- I will work tirelessly to continue to be the voice for South Dakota electric customers balancing reliability and affordability. I will work for South Dakotans through my role as Chairperson of Southwest Power Pools’ Resource Energy Adequacy Leadership team who develops policies impacting 14 states. I will be a voice of reason looking out for South Dakota ratepayers’ interests.
Electricity is the economic engine and ensuring we have a reliable grid is one of my top priorities as your South Dakota PUC Commissioner.
