Elections for the Alabama State Senate took place in 2014. A primary election took place on June 3, 2014; a runoff election took place where necessary on July 15, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 7, 2014. Phil Poole was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Incumbent Gerald Allen defeated Frank Chandler in the Republican primary. Allen defeated Poole in the general election.[1][2][3][4]

He is a member of the Cottondale Elementary Parent-Teacher Association, Holt High School Parent-Teacher Association, University of Alabama Alumni Association, West Alabama Chamber of Commerce and Citizen Club, and deacon at the Gilgal Baptist Church.[11]
