Four seats on the Frederick County Public Schools School Board were up for general election on November 3, 2015.
The seats of at-large incumbent Stuart Wolk, Back Creek District incumbent Jody Wall, Gainesboro District incumbent Michael Lake and Opequon District incumbent Benjamin Waterman were up for election.[1] Lake ran unopposed and won re-election to his Gainesboro District seat. Shawnee District board member John Lamanna was the only candidate who filed for the at-large seat, which he therefore won unopposed. Newcomers Kali Klubertanz and Seth Thatcher also ran unopposed and won the Back Creek District and Opequon District seats, respectively.

About the district
Frederick County Public Schools is located in northern Virginia in Frederick County. The county seat of Frederick County is Winchester. Frederick County was home to 82,377 residents in 2014, according to estimates by the United States Census Bureau.[2] In the 2012-2013 school year, Frederick County Public Schools was the 21st-largest school district in Virginia and served 13,163 students.[3]
Demographics
Frederick County outperformed the rest of Virginia in terms of higher education achievement in 2013. The United States Census Bureau found that 27.5 percent of county residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree, compared to 35.2 percent for Virginia as a whole. The median household income in Frederick County was $68,424, compared to $63,907 for the state of Virginia. The poverty rate was 7.1 percent, compared to 11.3 percent for the entire state.[2]

Voter and candidate information
The Frederick County School Board is a seven-member board elected to staggered four-year terms. Six seats on the board are elected by district and one seat is elected at-large.
The at-large seat and seats in Back Creek, Gainseboro and Opequon Districts were on the ballot in 2015. The general election was held on November 3, 2015. The next scheduled election for seats in Shawnee, Redbud and Stonewall Districts was November 2017. The filing deadline for candidates interested in running for the board was June 9, 2015.[5][6]
