Newberry earned his bachelor's degree in business from California State at Long Beach. He went on to earn a master's degree, become a school teacher and start his own business. In addition to serving on the Corona-Norco Unified Board of Education, Newberry served as president of the Roosevelt High Booster Club and as the founding president of the Corona-Norco Schools Educational Foundation. He received the JCSD Shining Star Award. As of 2014, Newberry and his wife had three children and one grandchild.[3]

Two seats on the Corona-Norco Unified School District Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014. Trustee Area 2 incumbent Bill Newberry and Trustee Area 4 incumbent John Zickefoose ran unopposed and won re-election by default.

The 2014 general election was the first time the Corona-Norco Unified School District elected members from trustee areas. Prior to this election, board of education members were elected at-large.

Results

This election was canceled due to lack of opposition. Trustee Area 2 incumbent Bill Newberry and Trustee Area 4 incumbent John Zickefoose were re-elected by default.[2][4]

Funding

Newberry reported $2,255.00 in contributions and $2,007.50 in expenditures to the Riverside County Registrar of Voters as of June 30, 2014. Including his reported existing balance of $686.42, that left his campaign with $933.92 cash on hand.[5]

My name is Bill Newberry and I am running for the Corona-Norco Unified School District Board of Education.

I have a deep passion for education and I know it’s of vital importance in building a bright future for our children and grandchildren. I am running to ensure that our system is working at its absolute optimal level, and I will use my leadership and business skills to help our District reach its true potential.

I am devoted to my family, and as a father of three I understand the concerns and challenges facing parents today. I will work to support families by fighting for the very best opportunities for success for all of our children.

I have shown my commitment to our schools as president of the Corona-Norco Schools Educational Foundation. Under my leadership, the Foundation has raised over $225,000 dollars to directly benefit students of this District and our community.

Because of my proven commitment to our students, I have earned the endorsements of Riverside County Supervisor John Tavaglione, the Corona-Norco Teachers Association, the Corona Police and Fire Associations the Norco Fire Association, and many others.
