David A. Blanchet is a family court judge of the 15th Judicial District, Division H in Louisiana. He was elected to this position on November 5, 2002, and took office the following January 1st.[1][2][3] He was re-elected in 2014 for a term beginning on January 1, 2015, and expiring on December 31, 2020.[4][5]

As an unopposed candidate, he was automatically re-elected without appearing on the ballot. [5]

Education

Blanchet received his undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) in 1976. He earned his J.D. from the Louisiana State University Paul M. Herbert Law Center in 1980.[2]

Career

Blanchet ran a general trial practice, with an emphasis on family law, for 22 years before he was elected to the district court in 2002.[2]
