Sharon Prather was a judge of the Twenty-Second Circuit Court in Illinois.[1] She was first appointed to the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit as an associate judge in 1992, and was elected as circuit judge in 1996.[2] Prather was retained in 2002 and served on the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit until 2006, when the court split to form the new Twenty-Second Circuit.[3] She was retained in 2008 and again in 2014.[4][5] Prather retired on July 12, 2019.[6]

In 2004, Prather was appointed as the first female presiding judge in McHenry County.[7][2][8][9]

Elections

2014

Prather was retained to the Twenty-Second Judicial Circuit Court with 78.2 percent of the vote on November 4, 2014. [5] 

Evaluations

The Illinois State Bar Association and participating attorneys rated Sharon Prather as Recommended for retention in a 2014 poll.[10]

2008

Prather ran unopposed and was retained in the November 4th general election, winning 81% of the vote and retaining her seat on the Twenty-Second Circuit.[4]

2002

Prather ran unopposed and was retained in the November 5th general election, winning 84% of the vote and retaining her seat on the Nineteenth Circuit.[11]

Education

Prather earned a B.A. from Lewis University and a J.D. from Northern Illinois University Law in 1979.[2]

Career

Prior to her judicial appointment, Prather was a partner for the law firm Reilly, Prather, Graham & McAndrews in McHenry County.[2]
