Joseph D. McGuire
Joseph D. McGuire is a former justice for the Lewis County Supreme Court in the 5th Judicial District of New York. He was elected to this position in 2001 and retired in December 2010.[1][2][3]
Education
McGuire received his undergraduate degree from St. John Fisher College and his J.D. degree from the Albany Law School of Union University.[1]
Career
McGuire began his career as a private practice lawyer in Rochester, NY. He then worked as a confidential law clerk to Presiding Judge Fred Young of the New York Court of Claims. During that time, he also worked as a private practice attorney and municipal attorney in Lowville, a municipal attorney in various towns in Lewis County, and Counsel to the local Industrial Development Agency.
McGuire's judicial career began in 1998 when he was elected judge of the Lewis County Court and the Lewis County Surrogate's Court. He was assigned to serve as a Family and County Court judge for the counties of Onondaga, Oneida, Herkimer, and Jefferson. He was elected to the Supreme Court in 2001.[1]
