Dean E. Ochiai is a judge on the O`ahu First Circuit Court in Hawaii. He was appointed to this position by Governor Neil Abercrombie in late December of 2012, effective in 2013.[1]

Education

Ochiai earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Hawaii, and then a J.D. from the Hastings College of Law in 1980.[2]

Career

Ochiai began his career as a deputy prosecuting attorney for the City and County of Honolulu and an attorney at the firm of Damon Key Char and Bocken. He then worked at First Insurance Company of Hawaii, Ltd. from 1991 to 2011, where he was the Vice President and Managing Attorney.

Ochiai was then appointed to the O`ahu First Circuit District Court in April 2011 and was confirmed by the Hawaii Senate before taking office. He filled a vacancy left by the promotion of Colette Y. Garibaldi to the Circuit Court. Ochiai was elevated to the circuit court himself in 2013.[2][3][4]
