The city of Laredo, Texas held elections for city council on November 4, 2014. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was August 18, 2014.[1] In District 8, the candidates included Rachel Ibarra, Roberto Balli, Viky Garcia and Jose Maldonado. Because no candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote, the top two vote-getters - Balli and Ibarra - met in a runoff election on December 20, 2014. Incumbent Cindy Liendo did not run for re-election because she ran for Mayor of Laredo.[2][3] Ibarra was defeated by Balli in the runoff election.[4]
