- I bring a rare combination of public service, legal training, and courtroom experience that directly prepares me to serve as Justice of the Peace for Precinct 7-2. I began my career as a social worker in Harris County, working directly with children and families impacted by housing instability, domestic violence, substance use, mental health needs, and financial hardship. I now serve as an Assistant County Attorney where I continue to advocate for those same vulnerable communities. I have the unique experience of practicing in a specialty court, where I have handled hundreds of trials, hearings, and mediations, and work closely with judges, court staff, and community partners while managing a complex high-volume docket.
- Justice of the Peace courts handle the cases that can have significant implications, either through evictions, debt claims, and traffic offenses, all having the ability to destabilize households and a families well-being. Drawing on my background as a social worker and continued legal work with families in Harris County, I will prioritize early mediation and diversion programs. Our court will launch a Resource Hub, staffed with a Community Liaison, who will connect residents to programs offering rental assistance, legal aid, and more. My goal is to reduce unnecessary displacement, promoted cooperation with the court, and prevent repeat court involvement for residents..
- Elected Officials should be accessible, not intimidating and distant. I will lock arms with the community through town halls, legal clinics, transparency, and partnerships with trusted organizations and non profits so that residents understand the processes and feel confident navigating their individual issues.
