Local Provisions

The Alabama County School Tax, Amendment 3, also known as Amendment 3, was on the ballot in Alabama on November 4, 1958, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was defeated. The amendment proposed that, provided that the electors authorize the following by a majority vote, Montgomery County would be permitted to levy and collect an additional tax at the rate of fifty-five one-hundredths of one percent for the purpose of funding education.[1]
