Rhonda I.L. Loo was a judge of the Maui Second Circuit Court of Hawaii. She was nominated to serve by Governor Neil Abercrombie (D) in April 2011 and confirmed by the Hawaii Senate in May 2011. She retired at the end of her term on June 6, 2021, after serving as a judge for 24 years.[1][2][3][4][5]

Education

Loo received a B.A. from the University of Oregon and a J.D. from the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law.[2][6]

Career

From 1997 until her appointment, Loo was a judge on Maui Second Circuit District Court. As a judge, Loo was active in system-wide improvements relating to mentally ill defendants in criminal cases. She worked as a deputy prosecuting attorney for the County of Maui from 1988 to 1997, and as a law clerk for the Circuit Court Judge E. John McConnell from 1987 to 1988.[6]
