McAnally ran for election to the San Jacinto County Court.
Primary: He was successful in the Republican primary on March 4, 2014, receiving 43.2 percent of the vote. He competed against Nick Carter and John Lovett.
Runoff: Because no candidate received over 50% of the vote, McAnally faced Lovett in a runoff election on May 27, 2014. He was narrowly defeated, earning 48.9% of the votes cast.
