Leo Berman
Leo Berman is a former Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives, representing District 6 from 1999-2013.
Berman worked as a Public Affairs Executive with Sun Exploration and Production Company from 1980-1991, and served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army from 1958-1976.
He served as Mayor Pro Tempore of Arlington from 1983-1984 and council member from 1979-1985. Berman is a member of a number of organizations, including the Tyler Sojourner's Club, Bethesda Health Clinic Board,East Texas Council Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America, and the Hideaway Lake Kiwanis Club.[1]

Issue positions
Berman's answers to the Texas State Legislative Election 2008 Political Courage Test are available. The test informs voters how a candidate would vote on the issues if elected. He did not reply when asked his top legislative priorities.[2]

- HB 251 - Relating to the use of public resources to make communications that contain political advertising; providing a criminal penalty.
- HB 255 - Relating to prohibiting admission by public institutions of higher education of applicants who are not lawfully authorized to be present in the United States.
- HB 370 - Relating to the establishment of English as the official language of Texas and the requirement that official acts of government be taken in English.
- HB 596 - Relating to the creation of an additional judicial district composed of Smith County.[3]
Elections
2012
Berman ran in the 2012 election for Texas House of Representatives, District 6. Berman was defeated by Matt Schaefer in the May 29 primary election.[4][5]
Berman announced on July 18, 2011 that he would seek re-election to his seat in the 2012 election. In a press release he stated "I consider it a great honor and privilege to represent the constituents of District Six. If re-elected, I will continue to promote conservative legislation and provide outstanding constituent service. We live in the greatest state in the union. I pray the Lord will continue to bless Texas as He has in the past."[6]

2010
Berman won re-election to the 6th District seat in 2010. He had no opposition in the March 2nd primary. He defeated Jon Fitts who ran for the seat on the Libertarian ticket the general election on November 2, 2010.[7]

2008
On November 4, 2008, Berman won re-election to the Texas House of Representatives from Texas' 6th District, defeating Gene Moody (L). Berman received 44,476 votes in the election while Moody received 6,196 votes.[8] Berman raised $70,385 for his campaign.[9]
