Michael McDonald (b. February 21, 1949) is a former Democratic member of the Tennessee House of Representatives, representing the 44th District from 1995-2012. He served as Assistant Majority Whip from 1996 to 1997. He also served as Majority Whip from 1996 to 2000.

McDonald was a Professor for Austin Peay State University from 1972 to 1977. He then worked for Volunteer State Community College as a Professor from 1978 to 2002. McDonald has also been a farmer. McDonald earned his B.A. from David Lipscomb College in 1970. He went on to receive his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois in 1971 and 1976, respectively.

He did not run for re-election in 2012.

McDonald was re=elected to the 44th District seat in 2010. He defeated Republican Matt Wynne in the general election on November 2, 2010. He was unopposed in August 5 primary.[2][3][4]

2008

On Nov. 4, 2008, McDonald won re-election to the 44th District Seat in the Tennessee House of Representatives.[5]
