Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

My name is Nadine Paniccia and I am a 34 year resident of Virginia Beach, an advocate for Coastal Resiliency and flood mitigation and serve as a Board member on the Back Bay Restoration Foundation. Through this role, I developed a passion for preserving and protecting the fragile coastal community, I call home, from the ravages of flooding which is becoming prolific in our community. As a victim of flood myself, I understand all too well the devastation that the loss of property and resources can have on a person and a community. I understand that we cannot turn back time and make different decisions nor can we get out of the way of nature, but I do believe that we can make smarter and more sustainable decisions as they relate to infrastructure, development and planning and begin to work with nature and not against. This passion has propelled me into public service.

Environment: air quality and global warming

I will always look up to my Father, Santo Anthony Paniccia. He's a man of his word, an incredible coach and teacher and parent to every child he encountered over the years.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

I was Valedictorian of 8th grade.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

I was a tour guide at the FX Matt Brewing Company in Utica New York in my college days.

What is your favorite book? Why?

Madame Bovary - Gustave Flaubert I honestly do not know why except that I'm obsessed with the book. Read it many times over in my lifetime.

If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?

Bewitched

What was the last song that got stuck in your head?
