Richard Burns was a 2014 unaffiliated candidate for District 34 of the Maine State Senate.[1]

Burns served as a Representative in the Maine House of Representatives from 2004 to 2008.

Burns is a self-employed Carpenter, in addition to owning an antiques shop. He served in the United States Army from 1975 to 1978.[2]

Elections for the Maine State Senate took place in 2014. A primary election took place on June 10, 2014, and a general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for party candidates wishing to run in this election was March 17, 2014. The deadline for write-in candidates to run in the primary election was April 28, 2014, and the deadline for non-party candidates to run in the general election was June 2, 2014. Gary Connor was unopposed in the Democratic primary. District 2 incumbent Ronald Collins was unopposed in the Republican primary. Collins defeated Connor and unenrolled candidate Richard Burns in the general election.[4][5][6][7]

Burns ran in the 2012 election for Maine State Senate District 2. He ran as an independent candidate and was defeated by incumbent Ronald Collins (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[8]

Burns was defeated by Republican candidate Ronald Collins in the November 2 general election. Republican incumbent Richard Nass could not run for re-election due to term limits.[9]

In the June 8th primary election, Burns ran unopposed.[10]
